At Dr. Preziosi’s dentist office, we specialize in geriatric dentistry, which means we have a lot of patients coming in for dentures. As a result of aging, your teeth begin to wear down and become more fragile. In addition, this will lead to tooth decay, infection and extraction. This will result in the need for a permanent solution to your missing teeth. Dental implants are a great option, but they are very expensive and rarely ever covered by insurance companies, which is why most patients end up with dentures.
Dentures are not the same as they used to be. They are known for falling out at inconvenient times, but not anymore. Imaging technology has made it possible for them to be fitted perfectly to your gum line, allowing for little room to slip. Dentures today, will stay on until you take them out. At Dr. Preziosi’s office, we offer full sets, partials, implant supported and overdentures. Whether you have a whole mouth full of missing teeth or just a few, we are here to help!
Who is a Candidate?
If you have one or more missing teeth and you want to fill in the gap without the expense of dental bridges or dental implants, dentures are for you. They will restore your smile and functionality of your bite. Although it will take some practice to eat some foods like steak, apples and corn on the cob, you can successfully chew again with their help.
Dentures We Offer:
• Full- A complete set of teeth for your top teeth, bottom teeth or entire mouth.
• Partial– Help complete your smile; partial dentures can fill in missing teeth.
• Implant Supported- Never worry about dentures falling out, they are connected to implants in your jaw for a natural feeling.
• Overdentures- Dentures that use any leftover teeth, or dental implants as anchors to hold the dentures in place, available in several different styles for a natural feel.
Choosing the Right Dentures
If you are unsure about what kind of dentures you want or need, Dr. Preziosi will kindly discuss your options and advise you on which would benefit you the most. Your journey will begin with an in office consultation and an exam of your gums and remaining teeth. After deciding on what kind you will be getting, you will make a plan with your dentist. Therefore if you are getting implant supported dentures, it will take extra time due to inserting the implants first. Regular dentures have a much faster turnaround time. You should also consider factoring in time for any necessary tooth extractions before getting your dentures.
When you are ready, Dr. Preziosi will take impressions of your gums to ensure that your permanent dentures fit perfectly, with no slipping or sliding. While waiting, you will have temporaries to hold you over. Dr. Preziosi will explain to you how to care for your dentures and gums following your appointment. If they are not fitting correctly, they will be sent back for new ones.
